The Henry & Sarah Ann Robinson Holyoak Wagon Encampment display located at the Bluff Fort depicts living accommodations for the Holyoak family for four years before they moved on to settle in what is now known as Moab. They settled into an area called Poverty Flats and were instrumental in building up the community.
The wagon home for the Holyoak's was pretty rough by today's standards...about the size of a twin bed, the box stored their few possessions and provided shelter from the weather. Often found along the San Juan River, the Holyoak wagon was heated by a wood stove while cooking was done outside over a campfire.
These Mormon pioneers had to have been some of the most stalwart, faithful, and courageous of people. They had few luxuries and could only have dreamed of having accommodations like the glamping wagon in our park. Naming our first glamping wagon Holyoak's Dream is our way of honoring these amazing people who originally settled the area now known as Bluff.
